The Storm Glass, a maverick puppet theatre work had its first creative development showing at the Wesley Performing Arts Centre (PAC) on 12th and 13th February 2010. It was created by Thieves Theatre who are the Company in Residence at the Wesley. Magic realism, gritty dialogue and life size puppets combine to tell the story of a murdered horse, an estranged daughter and an alcoholic farmer who discover that a failure to truly recall the past causes an imaginatively distorted future. Thieves was formed by Anna Loewendahl and Greg Pritchard. It has evolved out of their work in the duo Play at Being. Their work used puppets, theatre, projections, digital images, shadows, VJ software and music and innovative performance spaces (including an agricultural and a large, delicate, white inflatable cube). Other Thieves members are Jillian Pearce, Jacinda O’Sullivan, Edwin Irvine, Mary French, Hannah French. This September (2009), Thieves Theatre was launched with performances and demonstrations of training at the Wesley. Thieves Productions 2010 The Storm Glass.
